Odile explains that though the hair at the show was more conceptual, it can always be recreated for real life by tucking hair into a coat or a scarf—a very French way to work around the elements, and something that’s been on-trend and best yet, is delightfully winter-appropriate and super easy to recreate by us hectic city folk. On Our Radars: The Sleek and Romantic Look at Jonathan Simkhai F/W 2018
Step 1: Start on clean, washed hair.
The sleek and romantic hairstyles backstage start off with a healthy, frizz-free sheen. Emulate this gleam by washing and prepping hair with TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shampoo and Keratin Smooth Conditioner before styling.
Step 2: Balms away!
Blot hair with a towel, and then apply a small amount of TRESemmé Thick & Full Balm to damp hair, from roots to ends. Comb through.
Step 3: Prime hair for styling.
Prep hair with a thermal protectant and pre-styler like TRESemmé Repair & Protect 7 Pre-Styling Spray and TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Defense Spray to prevent damage.
Step 4: Dry and curl.
Blow-dry hair until at least 90 percent dry, and curl the bottom ends with a curling iron to create natural texture. Separate the curls with your fingers, and then spray hair with TRESemmé Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo to absorb any excess grease at the root, as well as create more texture.
Step 5: Finish with hairspray.
To mimic the runway look, tie on a string at the nape and spray hair with TRESemmé Compressed Micro-Mist Hairspray Smooth Hold Level 2. Misting all over and using your palms to smooth down the top half of your hair and hold the style in place, without any stiffness. Want more backstage NYFW access?
